About Matt…

Loftus Training Solutions, part of Loftus Coaching & Consultancy Ltd was founded by Matt Loftus – an experienced Mental Health Trainer, Consultant, and ICF Coach.

Matt is an experienced and qualified facilitator and educator, having worked in the sector for over 18 years, including as a senior leader in education; Matt then moved into an advisory role for an education technology company, as a consultant for safer recruitment and mental health lead, before establishing Loftus Training Solutions.  Matt continues to remain active within the education sector as lead SEND governor for a local primary school.

Sadly in 2018, Matt lost one of his students to suicide whilst teaching at a further education college.  This experience taught him that we all need to know more about mental health, and how to spot the early signs of poor mental health in those around us.  As an experienced and senior teacher, Matt simply did not have the skills to manage this distressing event effectively.

Having re-evaluated his priorities in teaching, Matt decided to start the journey to becoming a licensed MHFA instructor – with the simple aim of providing high-quality mental health training to as many people as possible.

Matt has been privileged to work with a number of fascinating clients; including schools, colleges and universities, senior high-performance business leaders, professional athletes, and charity founders.  More recently, Matt has delivered ‘resilience coaching’ for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, West Bromwich Albion FC, Derby County FC, GB Archery, and England Lacrosse.

Matt is passionate about sharing knowledge with others and supporting those experiencing poor mental health, and has spent the last 3 years as a crisis volunteer for Shout85258; helping others experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation.
